Sasol and CHIETA Launch R1.8m Training System for Green Hydrogen in South Africa
Sasol and CHIETA have partnered to develop a R1.8 million training system aimed at enhancing South Africa's green hydrogen capabilities. This initiative, initiated in April 2024, addresses the industry's need for skilled labor to support the transition to a hydrogen economy.

Sasol and CHIETA have initiated a R1.8 million training system to develop skills in hydrogen fuel cell technology. The collaboration began in April 2024 and received funding approval in 2025. The training system includes a 50W hydrogen fuel cell, enabling hands-on learning and practical application of technology.
It also encompasses training in solar PV and hydrogen fundamentals, thereby linking to broader renewable energy sectors. This project underscores the significance of public-private partnerships in advancing South Africa's energy transition. As the global green hydrogen market expands, the initiative positions South Africa as a potential skills producer in this sector.
