Sasol and Valterra Platinum Join Hydrogen Council as Industry Focuses on Next Delivery Phase
Sasol CEO Simon Baloyi and Valterra Platinum CEO Craig Miller have been appointed to the Hydrogen Council, a major CEOs-only alliance promoting the hydrogen industry. The council aims to scale up hydrogen production and infrastructure globally.
Recent initiatives include Kawasaki Heavy Industries partnering with Japan Suiso Energy to build the world's largest liquefied hydrogen carrier, Uniper's long-term agreement with AM Green Group for 500,000 tons/year of renewable ammonia from India, and the partial production start of a 100 MW renewable hydrogen project in Egypt. Additionally, SK Innovation is investing $300 million to enhance hydrogen mobility in South Korea. The council emphasizes unlocking demand through policy action and strong public-private partnerships, building on discussions from Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week where green hydrogen was highlighted as a key energy opportunity for Africa.
