Saudi Arabia Restores One Million Hectares of Degraded Land Under Saudi Green Initiative
Saudi Arabia has restored one million hectares of degraded land, marking a significant achievement in the Kingdom's environmental efforts. This milestone was reached through collaboration among government, private sector, and non-profits as part of the Saudi Green Initiative. The National Greening Program aims to rehabilitate 40 million hectares and plant 10 billion trees. The restoration has provided environmental, social, and economic benefits, including enhanced biodiversity, job creation, and significant carbon sequestration.

Saudi Arabia has achieved the restoration of one million hectares of degraded land, a key milestone in its environmental transformation under the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI). This accomplishment was facilitated through partnerships among government entities, private sectors, and non-profits.
The National Greening Program, leading the initiative, aims to rehabilitate 40 million hectares and plant 10 billion trees. Utilizing advanced technologies, the program has also resulted in the creation of over 68,000 jobs and cumulative carbon sequestration exceeding 2.2 million tons. The initiative highlights the economic value of environmental restoration and Saudi Arabia's commitment to combating land degradation and climate change.
