Saudi Arabia's NEOM Development Faces Setbacks in The Line Project
Saudi Arabia's NEOM project, aimed at creating a car-free eco-region, has encountered significant delays and budget challenges. The completion timeline for The Line has been pushed to the 2030s amid a reevaluation of project scope and funding needs.

Construction on The Line, part of Saudi Arabia's NEOM project, has been substantially slowed, with only 2.4 kilometers of foundation completed. Originally projected to house 1.5 million residents, this target has been revised down to under 300,000 due to rising costs and logistical challenges.
NEOM encompasses a 26,500 square kilometer area, featuring multiple developments including Oxagon and Trojena. Despite issues with The Line, the luxury resort Sindalah has opened, and work on industrial zones and data centers continues. The project reflects the complexities of ambitious urban planning amidst economic pressures, pushing completion of The Line's initial phase into the 2030s.
