Saugerties Hosts Lithium-Ion Battery Safety Forum Ahead of Key Capture Energy Session
Saugerties will hold a Q&A forum with lithium-ion safety experts on February 11, following a Key Capture Energy session on February 5 regarding a proposed 100-megawatt battery storage facility. The NYSERDA, Energy Safety Response Group, and Vassar College will participate in the forum. Developers must secure local approvals and pass NYSERDA reviews, aiming for 6 gigawatts of lithium-ion storage by 2030.

Saugerties will host a forum with lithium-ion safety experts on February 11, as an alternative to a Key Capture Energy session on February 5 about a proposed 100-megawatt battery storage facility. Experts from NYSERDA, Energy Safety Response Group, and Vassar College will participate.
The facility will occupy 11 acres of a 59.8-acre parcel owned by KMP Realty Holdings, near a Central Hudson substation. Developers like Key Capture and Terra-Gen, seeking local approvals for larger systems, must pass NYSERDA reviews aiming for 6 gigawatts of lithium-ion storage by 2030. The state offers various incentives for projects over 5 megawatts.
