Schneider Electric and Enactus Announce Winners of 2025 Energy Transition Battery Innovation Challenge
Schneider Electric and Enactus have revealed the winners of the 2025 Energy Transition Battery Innovation Challenge. The initiative, supported by the Schneider Electric Foundation, encourages young innovators to develop battery solutions for Africa's energy challenges. The winners include projects from various universities, focusing on eco-friendly lithium recycling, affordable hybrid batteries, and innovative battery management systems. The challenge aims to empower youth and foster sustainable energy solutions in the region.

Schneider Electric and Enactus announced the winners of the 2025 Energy Transition Battery Innovation Challenge, funded by the Schneider Electric Foundation. The challenge, now in its second year, promotes battery solutions for Africa's energy issues.
This year’s winners include 12 projects from various universities, such as University of Zimbabwe's LithiumX for lithium-ion battery recycling, and Strathmore University's Afya Cell, an AI-powered battery analyzer. Previous winners also showcased significant advancements, including Zimbabwe's Bindura University’s VoltStep, which generated $104,910 in revenue and improved lighting access for rural students. The initiative aims to nurture young talent and foster sustainable energy innovations.
