Schwarz Digits Expands Cloud Services to Czech Republic
Schwarz Digits, an internal IT division of Schwarz Gruppe, is set to expand its cloud services to the Czech Republic. The company, established in September 2023, plans an €11 billion data center investment in Germany, aiming to position itself as a hyperscaler in the European cloud market amidst rising competition.

Schwarz Digits has announced its intention to extend cloud services into the Czech Republic, although a launch date is not yet confirmed. The company is investing €11 billion in a data center in Lübbenau, Germany, set to begin its first phase in 2027, enhancing its market presence with current revenues of €1.9 billion and around 8,000 employees.
As European cloud providers face challenges against U.S. hyperscalers like Amazon and Microsoft, which dominate the market with over 60% share, the push for digital sovereignty is becoming critical. The European Commission's initiatives, including a Tech Sovereignty Package, aim to reduce dependency on foreign technology firms, promoting local providers while addressing compliance and security issues. The shift towards hybrid and multi-cloud strategies is likely to increase, driven by geopolitical concerns and regulatory requirements.
