Scioto County Commissioners Consider Tax Incentives for $1 Billion Data Center Project

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

The Scioto County Board of Commissioners is evaluating tax incentives for a proposed $1 billion data center project. On January 7, they notified the Green Local School District and the Scioto County Joint Vocational School District about a tax abatement request.

The proposed data center would cover approximately 500,000 square feet and could receive a 75 percent property tax abatement for 15 years. The developer would also make payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) starting at $500,000 annually, with additional payments based on completed square footage.

Workforce commitments have been emphasized, with a good-faith agreement for local labor involvement during construction. Public input will be accepted at upcoming meetings, with a final vote on the agreement scheduled for January 22. If approved, this project would be one of the largest economic investments in Scioto County's history.
