Scottish Hydrogen Truck Manufacturer Enters Administration Amid Funding Challenges
Hydrogen Vehicle Systems Limited, a Glasgow-based manufacturer of hydrogen-electric trucks, has entered administration due to funding issues. The company's assets were sold for £145,000 to preserve intellectual property and ongoing R&D efforts.

Hydrogen Vehicle Systems Limited, incorporated on September 13, 2017, employed over 70 people before entering administration. The company faced significant financial difficulties, accumulating £7 million in unsecured debt by January 2024, with no new investments raised over the prior two years.
The company implemented cost-cutting measures, including salary reductions and workforce limitations, leading to the closure of its Glasgow office in May 2024. A pre-pack sale was initiated, resulting in the sale of the business and assets to H2 Vehicle Systems Ltd for £145,000. This strategy aimed to maximize returns to creditors while maintaining the value of the company's assets and supporting ongoing R&D projects.
