Scottish Water Installs 631 Solar Panels at Forfar Wastewater Treatment Works
Scottish Water’s Forfar Wastewater Treatment Works is now partially powered by 631 solar panels, generating 0.23GWh annually. This renewable energy source supplies 18.5% of the site's power needs, reducing carbon emissions by 63 tonnes per year. The project, led by Scottish Water Horizons and delivered by OCS Energy Services, aims to lower operational costs and enhance energy resilience.

The Forfar Wastewater Treatment Works in Scotland is now utilizing 631 solar panels, providing 18.5% of its energy needs with an annual production of 0.23GWh. The initiative, managed by Scottish Water Horizons and executed by OCS Energy Services, is designed to decrease operational expenses and mitigate the impact of fluctuating electricity prices.
It is estimated that the project will save approximately 63 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent each year. This effort aligns with Scottish Water's commitment to enhancing sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.
