Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm Enters Full Operation Phase in Scotland
The Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm has transitioned to full commercial operation, generating 1.1GW of renewable energy. This capacity supports over 1.6 million homes, marking a significant step in Scotland's offshore wind development.

As of 2026, the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm, with an installed capacity of 1.075GW, is fully operational after all turbines began commercial service in October 2023. The project, developed by SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies, received a 15-year CfD contract in 2019, followed by a Final Investment Decision in June 2020.
Seagreen is expected to displace over 2 million tonnes of CO₂ annually and supports Scotland's net-zero goal by 2045. The recent approval of the 2GW Caledonia Offshore Wind Project highlights the sector's growth, although grid capacity remains a concern for efficient energy delivery. Continued investment in transmission infrastructure is essential for maximizing the benefits of new offshore projects.
