Seaspan and Technolog Develop Ammonia-Ready Feeder Vessel Design
Seaspan Corporation and Technolog's new feeder design enables LNG to ammonia conversion in four weeks. This innovation addresses marine fuel uncertainties and aging fleet emissions requirements.

The feeder vessel concept, developed by Seaspan Corporation and Technolog, allows LNG propulsion to be converted to ammonia within a four-week dry-docking period. This 3,370 TEU design integrates ammonia readiness from inception, incorporating specific tank systems, piping, and a dual-fuel engine for rapid transition.
The approach minimizes retrofitting needs, enabling shipowners to synchronize conversion with fuel availability. As the feeder fleet ages and emissions regulations tighten, this design may offer commercial advantages by maintaining operational flexibility while deferring final fuel decisions.
