Second Foundation to Launch 307MW BESS Projects in Czech Republic by 2026
Second Foundation will commission three battery energy storage systems (BESS) totaling 307MW in the Czech Republic by 2026. This marks a significant advancement in the local energy storage market, which is transitioning from project proposals to operational projects, indicating maturity and increased demand for professional management.

Second Foundation is set to deploy three BESS projects in the Czech Republic, amounting to 307MW by 2026. The largest, BESS Tušimice, will initially operate at 200MW/400MWh and is to be expanded to 210MW/420MWh, interfacing with ČEPS via the first private substation.
BESS Stonava, at 87MW/180MWh, is located in the Moravian-Silesian region, aimed for completion in late summer 2026. Additionally, BESS Vraňany will contribute 20MW/40MWh. The total capacity of the Czech ancillary services market is 1GW, with BESS projects expected to fulfill various services. The investment reflects a shift towards operational energy solutions, creating a need for experienced asset management in the market.
