Segen Launches Solar Panel Recycling Scheme for Commercial Installers in the UK
Segen has initiated a solar panel recycling scheme targeting commercial installations in the UK, addressing end-of-life disposal challenges. The program, in partnership with Pravas Sustainable Technologies, aims to recover materials from decommissioned panels, promoting circular economy principles.

Segen has launched a recycling scheme for solar panels in the UK, focusing on commercial projects to facilitate the collection and recycling of decommissioned panels. The initiative, developed with Pravas Sustainable Technologies, will allow for the recovery of materials such as aluminium, glass, silicon, and precious metals including silver, to be reintegrated into manufacturing supply chains.
A fee of £6 will apply for panels under 2 meters and £7 for larger panels. Phase two will introduce a service for residential module recycling. Compliance with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations is mandatory, and existing recycling services are complex in terms of cost and defective modules.
