Senegal Launches DICE Project to Enhance Waste Management and SME Competitiveness
Senegal's DICE Africa project aims to boost SME competitiveness and enhance waste management through digital innovation. With a budget of about 1 million CAD over 30 months, the initiative will also be implemented in Nigeria, Ghana, and Côte d'Ivoire.

The Digital Innovation for Circular Economy (DICE) Africa project was launched in Senegal on March 30, 2026, with a budget of approximately 1 million CAD allocated for four countries over 30 months. This initiative, co-led by the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center and supported by Canada's International Development Research Centre, focuses on improving waste recovery and addressing sector constraints through digital solutions.
A hackathon will facilitate the creation of digital tools for circular economy businesses. Nearly 90% of waste in Africa is improperly managed, highlighting the need for such innovations. The project's success could significantly enhance waste management practices across the region.
