Sener to Launch Germany's First Land-Based Regasification Terminal in 2026
Sener, a Spanish engineering group, will launch Germany's first land-based regasification terminal, German LNG, in Brunsbüttel by 2026, enabling the integration of liquefied natural gas into the country's pipeline network. The facility will have an initial capacity of 8 billion cubic meters annually, expandable to 10 billion, and will support future adaptations for hydrogen and green LNG. The German government also plans to auction support for hydrogen-ready gas plants, aiming for 10 GW of controllable power.

Sener, a Spanish engineering group, is set to open Germany's first land-based regasification terminal, German LNG, in 2026. Located in Brunsbüttel, it will allow Germany to integrate liquefied natural gas into its pipeline network, providing an alternative to terrestrial gas sources.
This facility will have the capacity to produce 8 billion cubic meters annually, expandable to 10 billion. Sener has positioned itself as a technological partner in Germany, focusing on decarbonization projects, natural gas combined cycle plants, hydrogen-ready infrastructure, and sustainable aviation fuel.
The company, founded in 1956, has 86% of its sales from international markets. The German LNG project will include storage tanks and related port facilities, with future adaptations for hydrogen derivatives and green LNG. Additionally, Germany's government plans to auction support for hydrogen-ready gas plants, targeting 10 GW of controllable power, including 8 GW for hydrogen-ready facilities.
