Serbia's EPS Restores Bajina Bašta Pumped Storage Plant with €35 Million Investment
The second unit of the Bajina Bašta pumped storage plant in Serbia has been restored, concluding a €35 million capital overhaul. This project marks the first revitalization since the plant's commissioning in 1982, enhancing its reliability and efficiency. The facility features two turbines with a total capacity of 614 MW and a pumping system of 620 MW. EPS is also revitalizing the Vlasina hydropower complex and developing additional pumped storage projects.

The Bajina Bašta pumped storage plant's second unit is back online after a €35 million overhaul, marking the first major update since its commissioning in 1982. This project, financed by EPS, aims to enhance the plant's reliability and operational efficiency.
The facility has a total capacity of 614 MW from two turbines and a 620 MW pumping system. Additionally, EPS is revamping the Vlasina hydropower complex and pursuing new pumped storage projects at Bistrica and Đerdap 3. A small photovoltaic plant has been operational at the dam since 2017.
