Sheboygan Common Council Approves Land Sale to Amazon for Delivery Station Amid Local Concerns
The Sheboygan Common Council has approved the sale of 58 acres in the SouthPointe Enterprise Campus to Amazon for a delivery station, despite local concerns about the area's revitalization and safety. Residents have suggested alternative uses, such as data centers, amid worries about recent violent incidents involving federal agents. Critics are calling for accountability from operators regarding environmental impacts and power costs.

The Sheboygan Common Council approved a land sale agreement for approximately 58 acres in the SouthPointe Enterprise Campus to Amazon for a delivery station. A local resident proposed using the industrial park for data centers and logistics to revitalize the area, which has been largely empty for seven years despite a $15 million investment.
Concerns were raised regarding recent shootings involving federal ICE agents, including the fatal shooting of a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis and subsequent incidents in Portland and Minnesota. Critics argue that the federal response has escalated tensions and violence, questioning the justification for such actions while emphasizing the need for accountability from data center operators regarding power costs and environmental impacts.
