Shelbyville City Council Approves Data Center Development Plan
The Shelbyville City Council has approved a data center project that may involve an investment of up to $2 billion by Prologis. This development could result in the construction of up to 11 buildings and create approximately 450 jobs.

The Shelbyville City Council has advanced a data center plan involving Prologis, which could invest up to $2 billion. The project includes a multi-phase development on 429 acres near Interstate 74 and State Road 44, requiring various regulatory approvals before construction can commence.
Prologis anticipates creating around 450 full-time jobs with average salaries of $100,000. The firm has committed to electrical grid upgrades and asserts that the center will utilize less water than typical data centers through a closed-loop cooling system. Despite public opposition, including a petition against the project, the council's decision reflects a trend of similar data center proposals across central Indiana, which have faced scrutiny from local communities.
