Shreveport City Council Approves West Shreveport Data Center Amid Recall Efforts

Some members of the community, led by resident Robert Lawrence, initiated plans to recall councilwoman Ursula Bowman, who supported the project, requiring 5,000 signatures from her district. Concerns were voiced about the proximity of the data center to residential areas, although many supported the project for its potential economic benefits.

Council members discussed the necessity of growth for Shreveport's budget and infrastructure. Council chair Tabatha Taylor emphasized the establishment of ongoing communication with residents regarding the data center's development. Lawrence criticized financial incentives given to data centers, advocating for equitable financial contributions from developers.
