Silicon Motion has launched the SM8008 PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe SSD controller, targeting data center drives and enterprise storage. The controller achieves speeds of up to 14 GB/s and over 2.3 million random IOPS while consuming less than 5W.

It is compliant with NVMe 2.0a and OCP Hyperscale NVMe Boot SSD Specification 1.0, and supports inline DDR4-3200 or LPDDR4-3200. The SM8008 can operate in millions of servers, contributing to significant reductions in data center power consumption.
