Silicon Motion Launches SM8008 PCIe Gen5 Controller with 14GB/s Speeds and Low Power Consumption
Silicon Motion introduces the SM8008 PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe SSD controller for data centers, featuring speeds up to 14 GB/s and power consumption under 5W. Built on TSMC's 6nm process, it supports NVMe 2.0a and is compliant with OCP Hyperscale specifications. The controller allows for capacities up to 16TB and offers various form factors, enhancing power efficiency for large-scale deployments.

Silicon Motion has launched the SM8008 PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe SSD controller, targeting data center drives and enterprise storage. The controller achieves speeds of up to 14 GB/s and over 2.3 million random IOPS while consuming less than 5W.
It is compliant with NVMe 2.0a and OCP Hyperscale NVMe Boot SSD Specification 1.0, and supports inline DDR4-3200 or LPDDR4-3200. The SM8008 can operate in millions of servers, contributing to significant reductions in data center power consumption. Available in capacities of up to 16TB and various form factors, the controller emphasizes enterprise-grade security and efficiency.
