Silsbee Resolves $74,750 TCEQ Penalty with Local Sewer Upgrade Project
The City of Silsbee has agreed to a $74,750 penalty imposed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, which will be offset by sewer upgrades. This enforcement action follows a July 2023 investigation that revealed excessive ammonia nitrogen discharges from the city’s South Plant wastewater facility in early 2023.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has reached an agreement with the City of Silsbee to address wastewater violations through a $74,750 penalty. This penalty will be fully offset by a local sewer improvement project. The enforcement action is a result of a July 2023 investigation that discovered the South Plant wastewater facility discharged excessive levels of ammonia nitrogen during the first four months of 2023.
