Silverton Secures $2.366 Million Federal Funding for Wastewater Facility Overhaul
Silverton has been awarded $2.366 million in federal funding aimed at upgrading its wastewater treatment facility, addressing issues that have persisted for over a decade. This funding, secured through Senators Hickenlooper and Bennet, marks a significant financial milestone for the small town's infrastructure projects.

The town of Silverton has received $2.366 million in federal funds to repair or replace its wastewater treatment facility's aging augmentation ponds. This funding, allocated by the United States Senate Appropriations Committee, is crucial for a project that has faced budget constraints for years.
Silverton's Public Works Department director, John Zarkis, noted that this level of federal assistance is unprecedented for the community. Despite the funding, the project still faces challenges, including delays in obtaining necessary permits from the Colorado Department of Health and Environment, which are anticipated later this year. This funding is pivotal as Silverton plans for long-term infrastructure needs.
