Singapore Launches S$800 Million Decarbonisation Challenge for Low-Carbon Technologies
Singapore is launching an S$800 million Decarbonisation Research, Innovation and Enterprise Grand Challenge to support low-carbon technology research and innovation over the next five years. The initiative aims to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions in the industrial and power sectors, contributing to Singapore's climate goals of reducing emissions to 45-50 megatonnes by 2035 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Singapore will invest S$800 million in the Decarbonisation Research, Innovation and Enterprise Grand Challenge (DGC) over the next five years. The DGC aims to advance low-carbon technologies for energy generation and industrial processes, addressing over 80% of the country's greenhouse-gas emissions.
Technologies targeted include solar power, hydrogen, energy efficiency, and carbon capture. The initiative is part of the national RIE2030 plan and includes the new Speed programme to develop commercial solutions. More details on specific initiatives will be released in the coming months.
