Singapore to Launch National Space Agency NSAS Under Ministry of Trade and Industry

Singapore will establish the National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS) under the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) effective April 1, 2026. Announced by Minister Tan See Leng on February 2 at the Space Summit, NSAS will enhance Singapore's capabilities in the global space economy, which is projected to grow to over US$1 trillion by 2040.

Ngiam Le Na has been appointed as the chief executive of NSAS. The agency will focus on research and development, industrial advancement, international partnerships, national space capabilities, and legislation for space safety.

Currently, Singapore's space industry includes approximately 70 companies employing 2,000 people. The government has invested over S$200 million (US$157 million) since 2022 to support space R&D. NSAS will also build talent and strengthen international collaborations, including partnerships with the European Space Agency and India’s IN-SPACe.
