Singapore's Tengeh Reservoir Solar Farm Enhances Renewable Energy Capacity
Singapore has installed over 122,000 solar panels on Tengeh Reservoir, generating 60 MWp. This project supports the country's solar target of at least 3 GWp by 2030, crucial for reducing reliance on imported energy.

The floating solar farm at Tengeh Reservoir spans approximately 45 hectares and is a significant part of Singapore's energy transition strategy. Fully operational since 2021, it generates enough electricity to supply around 16,000 public housing flats, contributing to the nation's goal of increasing solar capacity to at least 3 GWp by 2030.
Currently, natural gas accounts for 95% of the electricity generation, highlighting the need for diversification. The project also aids in reducing water evaporation and supports PUB's energy needs by offsetting about 7% of its annual consumption.
However, environmental assessments indicate potential impacts that require careful monitoring. This initiative exemplifies Singapore's innovative approach to maximizing limited land resources for renewable energy production.
