Sioux Falls City Council to Vote on Gemini Data Center Development Proposal
The Sioux Falls City Council will vote on a proposed 160-acre data center by Gemini of South Dakota LLC, located between Sioux Falls and Brandon. The site, which is outside city limits, requires easements for public utilities before annexation.
If approved, it will be zoned for industrial development. The city has filed a Notice of Claim of Interest regarding utility extensions. The data center is expected to employ between 50 and 500 people.
Kyle Peters of A1 Development indicated that without legislative tax incentives, Gemini's plans may be at risk. A similar tax exemption bill is proposed for the 2026 South Dakota Legislative Session. Additionally, Applied Digital is proposing a multibillion-dollar data center project in Deuel County, which could generate 200 jobs and $16 billion in investment, while raising concerns regarding local resource impacts.
