Six Dead, 14 Injured in Chamoli Tunnel Incident at THDC Project

Six fatalities and 14 injuries were reported after water and debris entered a tunnel under construction at a hydroelectric project site in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. The incident involved 22 workers, with 20 successfully rescued.
The affected site is the Tehri Hydro Development Corporation's project in Pipalkoti, managed by Hindustan Construction Company. Rescue operations are being conducted by multiple agencies, including the State Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Response Force, and Army units, following the rapid onset of the incident. Continuous monitoring and potential deployment of additional teams are underway as the weather poses further risks to ongoing operations.
