Sixteen HKU Research Projects Funded by NSFC/RGC for 2025/26
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has been awarded over HK$26.5 million for sixteen research projects in the 2025/26 exercise by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Research Grants Council. HKU leads UGC-funded universities in both the number of projects and total funding, with notable research areas including tick-borne viruses, biomedical imaging technologies, and studies on ecosystem structure and carbon emissions.

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has secured funding for sixteen research projects under the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Research Grants Council (NSFC/RGC) 2025/26 Exercise, totaling over HK$26.5 million. Thirteen projects received funding from the NSFC/RGC Joint Research Scheme (JRS) and three from the NSFC/RGC Collaborative Research Scheme (CRS).
HKU ranks first among UGC-funded universities in the number of funded projects and total funding. Notable projects funded include research on tick-borne viruses, organic-based infrared detectors for biomedical imaging, and various studies on ecosystem structure, carbon emissions, and advanced materials for energy storage.
