SK Broadband Reorganizes to Strengthen AI Infrastructure and Expand Data Center Capacity

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

SK Broadband is reorganizing its structure to enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure business, with the head of AI at SK Telecom leading the new organization. This reorganization aims to maximize synergy between SK Broadband and SK Telecom.

The leadership of the data center business has been reinforced, elevating the director position of the DC Headquarters, which oversees the AIDC Business Unit. SK Telecom and SK Broadband have prioritized data centers in their AI ventures, launching the T-B Enterprise Business Unit to foster cooperation.

SK Broadband became a wholly-owned subsidiary of SK Telecom after acquiring over 99% ownership in May. The company operates nine data centers and plans to increase capacity to 300MW by 2030. In Q3, the data center segment generated consolidated revenue of 149.8 billion won, a 54% increase year-over-year. Other competitors, such as KT and LG Uplus, are also restructuring their organizations to enhance AI capabilities.
