SK Innovation E&S Opens World’s First Hydrogen Charging Station at Incheon International Airport
SK Innovation E&S has launched the world's first liquefied hydrogen charging station at Incheon International Airport, designed to support carbon neutrality efforts. The facility, capable of supplying 320 kilograms of hydrogen per hour, will enable the daily charging of 240 hydrogen buses, with plans to convert more buses in the future. This initiative, backed by over $13 million in funding, aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions at the airport.

SK Innovation E&S has completed a liquefied hydrogen charging station at Incheon International Airport, marking it as the world's first airport facility aimed at supporting carbon neutrality. Located on a 2,771-square-meter site in the Terminal 2 parking garage, the station can supply up to 320 kilograms of liquefied hydrogen per hour, sufficient to fully charge 240 hydrogen buses daily.
It is fed by SK Innovation E&S' plant in Incheon's Seo District, which produces 90 tons of liquefied hydrogen per day. The project received funding from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Incheon Metropolitan City, and SK Plug Hyverse, totaling over $13 million.
Currently, 36 of the 68 shuttle buses at the airport have been converted to hydrogen, with plans for more conversions later this year. The introduction of hydrogen buses is expected to reduce carbon emissions significantly due to their operational efficiency.
