SLN's Doniambo Plant Operating at 80% Capacity Amid Financial Challenges
The Société le Nickel (SLN) reports its Doniambo plant is functioning at 80% capacity, producing 3,000-3,200 tonnes of nickel monthly. With state support, the company aims for financial balance by 2030, despite ongoing production challenges due to damage from past unrest.

The Doniambo plant of Société le Nickel (SLN) is currently operating at 80% capacity, producing between 3,000 and 3,200 tonnes of nickel monthly, below its target of 4,000 tonnes. This situation results from the limited production at its West Coast mines.
SLN's director, Guillaume Kurek, indicated that recovery efforts for the Thio site, significantly affected by the 2024 riots, will not be completed before 2027. In contrast, production at Kouaoua could resume more quickly, contingent on ongoing infrastructure developments.
The SLN contributes 63 billion CFP francs annually to the local economy and continues to receive state support due to its social and economic role. The company aims for financial equilibrium by 2030, depending on state backing.
