The Slough Sewage Treatment Works is undergoing an upgrade designed to comply with updated environmental agency wastewater quality standards. Key improvements focus on increasing treatment capacity and managing high-strength return flows, addressing ammonia and phosphorous reduction, and improving storm permit management.
The design phase commenced in November 2025, with construction projected to begin approximately 15 months later. This upgrade is expected to result in cleaner watercourses, fostering healthier ecosystems. Enhanced power supply and standby systems will further support operational resilience and sustainability.
