Smile Mission Launch Scheduled for April 9 via Vega-C Rocket
The Smile space science mission is set to launch on April 9, utilizing a Vega-C rocket to reach a 700 km orbit. This mission will enhance understanding of Earth's magnetic shield against solar radiation through advanced X-ray and ultraviolet observation.
Smile will launch aboard a Vega-C rocket from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana on April 9. After reaching a circular orbit at an altitude of 700 km, the spacecraft will conduct 11 engine burns to ascend above the North Pole.
This mission aims to observe Earth's defense mechanisms against solar particle streams and radiation bursts, utilizing X-ray and ultraviolet technology. The insights gained will provide unprecedented views of Earth's magnetic shield, potentially influencing future space weather research and satellite operations.
