Smithfield Township Proposes New Data Center Development Plans
Smithfield Township is considering a data center project featuring two buildings totaling 250,000 square feet. This project aligns with local economic development strategies under the township's conditional use ordinance.

Plans for a data center at Smithfield Gateway include two buildings of 125,000 square feet each and a supporting power substation. Developer Jim DePetris provided an update on February 12, indicating that the project is currently in the sketch plan stage.
Under local regulations, data centers can be established as a conditional use in Economic Development-zoned areas, which encompasses this proposed site. A public hearing will be scheduled if a formal submission is made. The development could significantly enhance local infrastructure and attract further investment in the area.
