On April 14, representatives from SMM, including Director Ye Jianhua, visited the Zambia Chamber of Mines (ZCM) to discuss copper pricing and the current status of Zambia's mining sector. The meeting focused on SMM copper prices and the future development of Zambia’s copper mines, fostering mutual trust and consensus.
The ZCM, established in 1942, resumed operations in 2000 after a period of nationalization. The chamber aims to promote sustainable mining practices and is a member of the Zambia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, enhancing accountability in resource management. This partnership could lead to improved collaboration in mining operations and benefit both Chinese and Zambian stakeholders.
