SNOC Advances Net-Zero Goals with Solar Plant and Gas Field Development in Sharjah
Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) has launched its net-zero initiative by commissioning the 60 MW SANA solar power plant, aiming to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 20% by 2032. Additionally, SNOC has advanced energy security in the UAE with the rapid production of the Hedebah Gas Field and is exploring natural hydrogen in collaboration with Siemens Energy and Decahydron, with further drilling planned for 2026. Natural gas will continue to serve as a baseload fuel to meet the increasing energy demand in the Northern Emirates.

Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) has initiated its net-zero journey by commissioning the SANA solar power plant, a 60 MW facility inaugurated in June 2025, which is expected to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 20%. SNOC aims for net-zero emissions by 2032.
In November 2025, SNOC completed the second appraisal well in the Hedebah Gas Field, enhancing energy security in Sharjah and the UAE. The Hedebah-01 well was fast-tracked into production within ten months.
SNOC is also exploring natural hydrogen for energy applications, following a memorandum of understanding with Siemens Energy and Decahydron. Further drilling is planned for 2026 to assess the resource potential. Natural gas will remain a baseload fuel to meet growing energy demand in the Northern Emirates, supported by improved gas pipeline infrastructure.
