Snowy Hydro Completes Overhaul of Laverton Power Station in Victoria
Snowy Hydro has completed a significant overhaul of its Laverton power station in Victoria, Australia. The project, involving the replacement of a 20-year-old gas turbine exhaust, took over 51,000 work hours and is expected to extend the turbine's operational life for another 1250 starts. The overhaul was part of a larger upgrade of the 163 MW gas turbine and utilized a purpose-built facility for the rebuild. Snowy Hydro operates four gas-fired power stations in Australia, contributing to a total capacity of 1947 MW.

Snowy Hydro has completed an overhaul of its Laverton power station in Victoria, marking an Australian-first by replacing an aging gas turbine exhaust. This two-month project involved disassembling the 163 MW gas turbine, requiring more than 51,000 work hours.
The upgrade resets the turbine's operational life for another 1250 starts, equivalent to 20 years. Snowy Hydro operates four gas-fired power stations in Australia with a total capacity of 1947 MW, including Valley Power, Colongra, and the under-construction Kurri Kurri, which is expected to begin operations in late 2025.
