São Paulo Government Explores European Water Recycling Solutions Amid Severe Drought
A delegation from the São Paulo government and Sabesp is on a technical mission in Europe to investigate wastewater recycling technologies. The initiative aims to find solutions applicable to São Paulo, which is experiencing its worst drought in a decade, enhancing water resilience and sanitation services. Key visits include Dublin's Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant and Colchester's Water Recycling Centre in the UK, focusing on increasing biogas production and diversifying water supply sources.

The São Paulo government and Sabesp have commenced a technical mission in Europe to explore wastewater recycling technologies amid severe drought conditions. Led by Environment Secretary Natália Resende, the mission includes visits to Dublin's Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant and Colchester's Water Recycling Centre, which aims to meet 24% of local water demand through recycled water.
The initiative seeks to apply learned solutions to improve water resilience in São Paulo. The final stop will be in Barcelona, where the delegation will discuss strategies for water scarcity. The mission emphasizes the importance of diversifying water supply sources to sustain growth.
