SOLA Group Achieves Financial Close on Naos-1 Solar-Battery Project in South Africa for Sasol and Air Liquide
SOLA Group has reached financial close on the Naos-1 hybrid solar and battery project in South Africa, marking a significant milestone in the private power market. The project, consisting of a 300 MW solar PV facility with 660 MWh of battery storage, is backed by a 25-year power purchase agreement with Sasol and Air Liquide and is targeted to commence commercial operations in 2028.

SOLA Group has achieved financial close on the Naos-1 hybrid solar and battery project, which includes a 300 MW solar PV facility and 660 MWh of battery energy storage. Located near Viljoenskroon in the Free State, the project is supported by long-term power purchase agreements with Sasol and Air Liquide, making it the largest privately contracted hybrid renewable energy project to reach financial close in South Africa.
Commercial operations are set to begin in 2028. This project aims to provide reliable, cost-competitive clean energy, addressing peak demand and enhancing grid stability, while contributing to the broader transition towards a low-carbon energy portfolio.
