Solid-State Battery Industry Growth: R&D Advances and Commercialization Efforts in China
This week, several developments occurred in the solid-state battery sector, with new projects and investments announced. Sunstone Development and TONZE reported their projects remain in R&D. QingTao's Wuhai project released an EIA notice, while a 3.5 GWh production line in Taizhou began operations. Suzuki acquired Kanadevia's solid-state battery business, and Yaoshi Lithium Battery secured 200 million yuan in financing. The industry is witnessing significant efforts toward commercialization, including proposals for national standards and production increases across various companies.

Recent developments in the solid-state battery industry include Sunstone Development and TONZE indicating their sulphide projects are in R&D; QingTao's Wuhai project, with a 2 billion yuan investment, has released its EIA notice, and a 3.5 GWh production line in Taizhou has commenced operations. Suzuki Motor has agreed to acquire Kanadevia's all-solid-state battery business, while Yaoshi Lithium Battery completed a 200 million yuan Series A financing.
Additionally, CORNEX New Energy filed for solid-state production lines in Yichang and Xiaogan, and proposals for national standards for solid-state batteries were put forward. SMM forecasts solid-state battery shipments to reach 13.5 GWh by 2028.
