Somalia and West Virginia Sign Agreement for Critical Mineral Development
Somalia and West Virginia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop critical mineral resources, enhancing Somalia's integration into global supply chains. The Federal Government of Somalia and the State of West Virginia have executed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop critical mineral resources. The agreement provides a framework for exploration, extraction, and processing of Somalia's natural resources.
The signing occurred at the West Virginia State Senate, with Somali Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Dahir Shire Mohamed and West Virginia Secretary of the Senate Kris Warner representing their respective governments. The West Virginia Senate adopted a resolution supporting the partnership, emphasizing technical knowledge transfer and infrastructure development in Somalia. The initiative aims to attract American investment and promote responsible extraction practices to stimulate Somalia's economy and create jobs.
