South Africa's Agriculture Sector Drives GDP Growth; Zambia and Zimbabwe Pursue Industrial Expansion
The agricultural sector in South Africa recorded a notable 17.4% growth in 2025, positioning it as a key driver of the economy with a 0.4% GDP increase in Q4. In Zambia, the government aims to triple annual copper production to 3 million metric tonnes by 2031, leveraging international investment to enhance its status in the global supply chain for critical minerals.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe's Cabinet approved the Zimbabwe National Industrial Development Policy 2, targeting manufacturing sector growth from $7 billion to $12 billion by 2030 and increasing capacity utilization from 51% to 60%. The policy aims to strengthen local industries and promote sustainable growth.
