South Africa's ARM to Boost Manganese Exports via Ngqura Terminal with Private Sector Collaboration
African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) is participating in a bid for a manganese export terminal at Ngqura port to enhance South Africa's logistics for mineral exports. ARM's subsidiary, Assmang, is part of the Manganese Producers Consortium (MPC), which includes key players like South32 and Anglo American. Transnet, the state logistics operator, plans to relocate its manganese terminal to Ngqura by 2027, backed by a 127 billion rand investment to modernize rail and port infrastructure. The new terminal aims to increase manganese export capacity by 16 million tonnes.
