South Chungcheong Province has signed a 1.2 trillion won investment agreement with Geumgang Co., Ltd. to construct an 80MW AI data center in Cheonan City by 2029. The center will be built on a site of approximately 102,642 square meters in Gunseo-ri, Jiksan-eup.

The province has secured the land and signed a power usage contract with Korea Electric Power Corporation, meeting essential project requirements. The center is expected to create about 200 new jobs, with recruitment focused on local talent, and will generate an annual economic impact of approximately 20 billion won once operational.

This initiative is part of the province's strategy to enhance its AI and data industry ecosystem, leveraging Cheonan's transportation accessibility and industrial infrastructure. The province aims to increase AI utilization in manufacturing processes to 40% by 2030.
