Southeastern Europe Emerges as a Hub for Israeli Arms Exports
Southeastern European countries have strengthened defense cooperation with Israel, resulting in a significant increase in arms exports, particularly from Serbia. In 2025, Serbia’s arms exports to Israel reached $131.1 million, up from $50.1 million in 2024. Serbia has continued to supply arms, including ammunition, despite a suspension of exports last year. Other countries like Albania, Romania, and Bulgaria are also expanding military partnerships with Israel, with numerous contracts signed for defense equipment and technology exchange.

Southeastern Europe is becoming a key market for Israeli arms exports, with Serbia’s arms sales to Israel increasing to $131.1 million in 2025, from $50.1 million in 2024. This rise follows Israel's military actions following the October 7 Hamas attack.
Serbia continues to supply arms despite having suspended exports last year. Additionally, Serbia has awarded contracts worth nearly $2 billion to Israeli firm Elbit Systems for military supplies. Other countries, including Albania and Romania, are enhancing military cooperation with Israel, evidenced by recent defense contracts and technology partnerships.
Bulgaria is also looking to strengthen ties, while smaller nations like Montenegro have signed defense agreements with Israel. Slovenia has halted arms trade with Israel due to humanitarian concerns.
