Southern Taiwan University Unveils Smart Microgrid Talent and Technology Center with NT$105 Million Funding
Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology in Tainan launched a smart microgrid talent and technology center, funded with NT$85 million from the Ministry of Education and NT$20 million from university funds. The center features 700 kilowatts of solar capacity, intelligent energy storage systems, hydrogen production via electrolysis, and fuel cell power generation, designed as a 'quasi-production-line' teaching environment.
It includes a central monitoring command center and smart charging stations, with energy supplying the on-campus 7-Eleven, capable of providing two days of electricity during outages. The project aims to enhance regional technical education and develop professionals with job-ready skills by partnering with six other schools.
