Southern Water Uses Helicopter to Deliver Treatment Tanks for £2.5M Pembury Project
Southern Water has delivered four water treatment tanks via helicopter to its Pembury site in Kent, part of a £2.5 million project to enhance wastewater treatment. Each tank weighs 1,275 kg and is designed to improve phosphorus removal from treated water, with a target reduction to 0.25 mg per liter. This project aims to enhance the quality of treated wastewater and improve local environmental conditions.

Southern Water has transported four water treatment tanks to its wastewater treatment works in Pembury, Kent, using a helicopter as part of a £2.5 million improvement project. Each tank weighs 1,275 kg and measures 5m high and 2.6m wide.
The new system will focus on reducing phosphorus levels in treated water to 0.25 mg per liter. This delivery is a significant milestone in enhancing wastewater quality, with expected improvements in local bathing water conditions across the South East.
