Sow & Reap Chara, Sagar Cements to Establish Biochar and Gasification Units in Telangana
Sow & Reap Chara Pvt Ltd has partnered with Sagar Cements to establish biochar and gasification units at the Mattampally plant in Telangana, aiming to produce syngas from agricultural residues and reduce carbon emissions by 6,000 tonnes annually. The project will begin with four gasification units by March 2026, with plans to replicate the model across Sagar's manufacturing sites in India and target the issuance of approximately 160,000 carbon credits each year.

Sow & Reap Chara Pvt Ltd signed a 10-year agreement with Sagar Cements to create biochar and gasification units at Sagar's Mattampally plant in Telangana. The project will use agricultural residues to produce syngas for cement production, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 6,000 tonnes annually initially.
The initiative plans to install 20 gasification units, starting with four by March 2026, and target the issuance of around 160,000 carbon credits annually. The model will be replicated across Sagar Cements' manufacturing units in India, contributing to long-term carbon removal and enhancing soil quality through biochar.
