Space Force Enhances Testing Efficiency with Integrated Teams
The Space Force is merging developmental and operational testing to expedite capability delivery. By forming integrated test teams, the service aims to reduce lengthy development phases and increase the speed of fielding new technologies.

The Space Force is consolidating developmental and operational testing to accelerate the delivery of new systems. Integrated test teams, composed of acquisition officers, test officials, and operators, are now formed at the beginning of a program's evaluation phase to assess when a capability is ready for field evaluation.
This approach allows for tailored evaluations based on the technology's maturity, enabling established systems to proceed more quickly while conducting detailed testing for novel technologies. The service anticipates needing additional personnel to maintain testing efficiency as operators are reassigned from their operational roles. Future developments include the Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI), overseen by System Delta 81, established in September 2025.
